2015-16 Seasonal Flu Vaccine Highly Effective

A recent article from Clinical Advisor recently reported that flu "vaccine effectiveness for the 2015-2016 flu season is 59 percent according to data presented by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices."
But, we're not out of the woods yet. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting that the predominating virus in circulation is A(H1N1)pdm09. Unvaccinated individuals are presenting at hospitals with severe respiratory symptoms, leading to increased hospitalizations and in some cases, death.
With widespread activity being reported by 21 states, including AZ, CA, CT, Iowa, KY, MD, MA, MI, MN, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, ND, PA, Texas, Utah, VT, VA, and WA, it's still not too late to protect your patients against the influenza virus.
The Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report shows flu activity intensifying, with several states being designated as either widespread or regional activity.
