Senior Process Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Process Engineer is the key subject matter expert for automated and semi-automated distribution and pharmacy processes. The engineer will lead and direct improvement and capacity enhancement initiatives, and through influence and involvement will lead operational teams through physical and system changes associated with initiatives. The SVP of Distribution and Logistics will provide direction and will rely heavily on the Senior Process Engineer to evaluate physical processes, automated handling systems, WMS and production data to determine opportunities for improvement and to design and implement more efficient processes.

Essential Functions and Duties:

It is essential that the Senior Process Engineer have relevant hands-on experience designing and leading implementations of new distribution in either manufacturing or pharmacy technologies. Must be efficient with tools and techniques used to develop manufacturing and/or distribution processes and have experience and familiarity with configuration and maintenance of either a MES, WMS or WCS.

  • Actively monitors operational data and processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Consults with clients and internal resources to define problems / opportunities.
  • Collects and analyzes data and information associated to problems/opportunities.
  • Presents improvement alternatives to stakeholder and either creates or sources input, testing data and financial analysis to verify improvement approach.
  • Plans approach and project resources to design, develop and implement initiative and aligns resources, materials and preparation accordingly.
  • Manages external resources required to complete initiatives and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure that operations are continuous and uninterrupted throughout implementation.
  • Prepares, maintains and proactively manages the project communication plan to the stakeholders and keeps track of project communication materials.
  • Operates office equipment: computer, scanner, printer, copier, fax, 10 Key, calculator, and phone.
  • Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.

  • Comply with the policies and procedures stated in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program by always working in a safe manner and immediately reporting any injury, safety hazard, or program violation.
  • Ensure conduct is consistent with all Compliance Program Policies and procedures when engaging in any activity on behalf of the company. Immediately report any concerns or violations.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Required Education:

  • A four-year college degree in engineering or supply chain field or equivalent is required.

Required Knowledge:

  • At least five (5) years' experience in an engineering role.
  • Hands on experience in either a distribution, manufacturing or high volume pharmacy operation with automated handling systems and associated control systems.

Required Experience:

  • At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in a distribution or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience designing and implementing warehouse processes supported by an advanced WMS.
  • Experience using Lean and/or Six-Sigma.

Required Skills:

  • Must have strong computer skills and experience with following software:
    • AutoCad
    • MS Office
    • Access or SQL
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Sound decision-making abilities.

Physical Requirements:

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts up to 40 pounds and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal warehouse and office settings.

Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations' situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
