The current flu season in Britain is on track to be their worst in eight years. In the past two weeks, influenza levels have increased from 28 in 100,000 to 69 in 100,000. European health experts anticipate the outbreak will become more severe in the next three months when flu season traditionally peaks. An epidemic is declared when the numbers reach 200 in 100,000.

Taking a look at what is happening in the rest of the world can be an indication of what we can expect here in the U.S. as we head into the peak of our flu season.

Vaccination season still active even as flu season begins…While October and November are the recommended months for vaccination, getting a flu shot later in the season (December – March) can still protect patients as flu season often peaks after January.
