The FDA has recently approved Talecris Biotherapeutics’ Gamunex for the treatment of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a rare autoimmune disorder affecting approximately 25,000 people in the United States. CIDP is characterized by progressive muscle weakness and impaired sensory function in the arms and legs.
The only therapy of any kind with an approved indication for the treatment of CIDP, Gamunex now has the broadest set of FDA-approved indications of any liquid immune globulin intravenous (IVIG) therapy.
Talecris is developing programs to educate neurologists on the CIDP indication and the clinical trial that proved its efficacy. The company also reports working to substantially increase supplies of Gamunex in 2009.
Gamunex is available from FFF, where our Wow! Customer Care Team is always ready to assist you at (800) 843-7477.
