New Hospital Outpatient Reimbursement Rules for IVIG

On November 1, 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published the final rules for the physician fee schedule and the hospital outpatient fee schedule for IVIG. The new rules are effective January 1, 2008.

Physician's office: IVIG will continue to be reimbursed at ASP + 6%, and the pre-administration fee will continue at the current rate of $71 per infusion under the current HCPCS billing code G0332.

Hospital Outpatient: Reimbursement for all Part B drugs under ASP, including IVIG, will be reduced from ASP + 6% to ASP + 5%. The IVIG pre-administration fee will be reduced from the current rate of $75 per infusion to $37 per infusion. Additionally, the pre-administration HCPCS code GO332 will be replaced by a new clinical code for drug pre-administration-related services: APC 0430.

CMS has proposed for 2009 reducing all Part B drugs, including IVIG, to ASP + 3%.
